An Invitation to Music Lovers Lawrence Power, Artistic Director of the Festival With just 11 days until the start of the 2026 West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival at Hambleden, the excitement is mounting! Now in its sixteenth year, this celebrated and unique Festival runs from September 17 to September 19, offering five world-class concerts inspired by the theme of "Time".It is hard to describe the magical atmosphere of these concerts, which bring acclaimed musicians of worldwide repute to our doorstep. The only way to experience it is to be there in person! The Festival was founded by world-renowned violist Lawrence Power. THE FIVE CONCERTS - A BRIEF OUTLINE Thursday 17th September 2026 Concert #1: at 7.30 pm “Celestial Clocks” The Music: Includes Schumann Piano Quartet and music by composers including Beethoven, Pachelbel, Britten, Dowland and others Friday 18th September 2026 Concert #2: at 1 pm “Towards a New Life” Includes Dvorak’s American String Quartet, Faure’s cello sonata and a piano work by Nadia Boulanger Concert #3: at 7.30 pm “Songs of Farewell” Featuring Mendelssohn String quartet in F minor, Shostakovich Piano trio No 2 and works by Maxwell-Davies, Mozart, Ravel and Arthur Benjamin Saturday 19th September 2026 Concert #4: at 11 am “Young Artists” Mendelssohn Piano Trio No. 1, Mozart Duo for violin and viola in G and works by Schumann and Saint-Saens Concert #5: at 8 pm “Time Re-imagined” The grand finale brings the Festival to its artistic culmination of the Festival's theme. This wide-ranging concert features music by Bach, Rameau, Vivaldi, Finzi, Piazolla, Haydn, Edith Piaf, Geminiani and others! THE ARTISTS: The Festival welcomes the exceptional performers Lawrence Power, pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips, violinists Stephanie Gonley, Charlotte Spruit and Annabelle Meare, cellist John Myerscough and lutenist Sergio Bucheli.Saturday morning’s Young Artists Concert will feature pianist Gabriel Power, violinist Fidelio Coles and cellist Fabian Broman Crawford-Phillips. THE VENUE: The concerts take place at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, in the picturesque village of Hambleden RG9 6RX.
